As a young mom carrying a diaper bag and trying to squeeze Bible study time into doctors’ office waiting rooms or walking on the treadmill, I became aware of a need for more transportable resources. Rather than carrying a Bible, a commentary, and a workbook, I needed a fit-in-my-purse option that allowed me to have it all. And as a person who loves the creative life of art, beauty, education, and travel, I disliked fill-in-the-blank studies that asked obvious questions. I needed a resource that drew on both sides of my brain while challenging me with cultural and linguistic insights to aid my contemplations of the biblical text. When I didn’t find what I was looking for, I created my own.
